Bio
Stomping Cactus is a Salt Lake City acoustic duo featuring Brielle Petrie and Isaac Geslison. The two have played together for years, first in bands including the Copper Kettle Band and BYU's Mountain Strings, and now write original songs rooted in traditional bluegrass and old-time folk. Banjo, mandolin, guitar and fiddle trade the lead under country-style harmony vocals, and the result is laid-back and nostalgic.
In 2025 the duo released their self-titled debut album on Westmoon Records: ten original songs led by the singles "Mississippi" and "Battle Mountain." Isaac engineered and mixed the record, David Baker mastered it, and friends from the Utah roots scene joined in on fiddle, pedal steel, bass and drums. The album art is by illustrator Ginny Cunningham.
Stomping Cactus has performed at folk festivals across Europe and at venues and festivals throughout Salt Lake and Utah Counties, including Kilby Court and the Live Daybreak Summer Concert Series.
